{"id":3020,"date":"2026-03-16T15:00:23","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T19:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archangeladvancement.com\/?p=3020"},"modified":"2026-03-15T20:00:51","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T00:00:51","slug":"10-ways-to-market-your-school-online-5-and-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archangeladvancement.com\/?p=3020","title":{"rendered":"10 Ways to Market Your School Online &#8211; #5 and #6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The inspiration for these Marketing Matters comes from an article that was available several years ago at NewMediaCampaigns.com titled &#8220;10 Ways to Market Your Non-Profit Online.&#8221; (The page is no longer available.)\u00a0 Since your school is a non-profit, I&#8217;ve tweaked them a bit so that these items relate directly to your school and what you need to do to market it effectively in today&#8217;s technology-rich environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5) Send out consistent email blasts, but don&#8217;t overwhelm subscribers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to consistently update your email subscribers about your\u00a0school&#8217;s successes because\u00a0that&#8217;s what they signed up for.\u00a0 Conversely, it&#8217;s also important not to send too many updates; doing so\u00a0transforms\u00a0people who want to learn about the organization into people who view your communication as spam.\u00a0 It may not even be the recipients who think it&#8217;s spam&#8230;it might be their email program that considers your messages to be spam and therefore blocks them (especially if recipients don&#8217;t open those first few messages).<\/p>\n<p>A monthly email newsletter in addition to sporadic major event announcements is a good starting point for gauging the interest of your email subscriber list.\u00a0 You could try\u00a0sending out two emails, each to half of your total list, with the same content but with different subject lines.\u00a0 Seeing which mailing subject line generates higher open and click-through rates\u00a0will determine what kind of language best engages your subscriber &#8211; or allows it to pass through spam filters.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to do this through an eNewsletter service, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.constantcontact.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Constant Contact.<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0The one I really like now is Kit (at <a href=\"https:\/\/kit.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/kit.com<\/a>).\u00a0 I you just send an email to everyone, with tons of email addresses in the &#8220;To:&#8221; line, that&#8217;s one good way to make sure your communication ends up in everyone&#8217;s spam filter.<\/p>\n<p>Also, don&#8217;t put your email address, nor words and phrases\u00a0like &#8220;free,&#8221; &#8220;act now&#8221; or &#8220;time&#8217;s running out,&#8221; in the subject line.\u00a0 Also,\u00a0don&#8217;t overuse the words &#8220;click&#8221; and &#8220;click here&#8221; in body of the message.\u00a0 Those are all ways to ensure your communication gets caught in a spam filter.<\/p>\n<p>Notice how this article has been written.\u00a0 There are no more than three sentences per paragraph.\u00a0 If there are more sentences or thoughts, consider rewriting or use bullet points to make your point.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of white space draws attention.<\/p>\n<p>But is monthly communication enough?\u00a0 Some experts recommend a weekly publication, while others recommend daily communication.\u00a0 The correct maximum effectiveness answer is really dependent on two things:\u00a0 your target audience&#8217;s mindset, and the email client they&#8217;re using.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6) Donating to your school online should be straightforward and easy to share on social media.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The donation process should take as few steps as possible. Every additional step is just one more opportunity for a visitor to change his or her mind and click away from your school&#8217;s Web site. Best practice &#8211; your &#8220;Donate Now&#8221; link should be prominent on your main Web site page, and not buried as a third level navigation,\u00a0followed by\u00a0a scroll to the bottom of the page.<\/p>\n<p>Once a user donates to your school online, the confirmation or thank you page should provide the ability for that user to share on the social media services your school uses. Doing so should be able to link back to your school&#8217;s Web site&#8217;s homepage or donation page to encourage others to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 Michael V.
